Ingredients

Scale

Wraps

  • 6 high-protein tortillas or wraps

Filling

  • 1 cup lean ground turkey or chicken (cooked and seasoned)
  • ½ cup reduced-fat mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup turkey pepperoni slices
  • ⅓ cup marinara sauce (no sugar added)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp oregano

For Crisping

  • Olive oil spray or egg wash

Optional Additions

  • Chili flakes
  • Fresh basil
  • Cottage cheese or ricotta for extra creaminess

Instructions

  1. Cook the meat: In a skillet over medium heat, brown 1 cup of lean ground turkey or chicken seasoned with 1 tsp garlic powder and 1 tsp oregano. Cook until no longer pink, then drain excess fat and let the meat cool slightly.
  2. Assemble the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat, ½ cup reduced-fat mozzarella cheese, ¼ cup turkey pepperoni slices, and ⅓ cup no-sugar-added marinara sauce. Mix thoroughly to combine all the ingredients evenly.
  3. Fill the wraps: Lay out the 6 high-protein tortillas. Spoon the meat and cheese filling into the center of each tortilla. Fold the sides inward and roll tightly like a burrito to enclose the filling.
  4. Seal and crisp: Lightly brush the outside of each rolled tortilla with olive oil spray or an egg wash to help them crisp up during cooking.
  5. Cook: For Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the rolls in the basket and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden and crispy. For Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the rolls on a baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown and heated through.
  6. Serve: Remove the rolls from the heat and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with a side of marinara dipping sauce or garnish with fresh herbs like basil for extra flavor.

Notes

  • For extra creaminess, add cottage cheese or ricotta to the filling mixture.
  • Adjust seasoning with chili flakes if you prefer a spicier kick.
  • Use olive oil spray for a lighter crisp; egg wash adds a richer golden color.
  • Ground chicken or turkey can be substituted with lean ground beef if preferred.
  • Ensure rolls are sealed tightly to prevent filling from leaking during cooking.
