Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Pockets Base

  • 1 refrigerated tube of pizza crust

Filling

  • 6 Tablespoons of pasta sauce
  • 1 cup of mozzarella cheese
  • Approximately 12 pepperoni slices

Optional Toppings

  • Sprinkle of oregano leaves (optional)
  • Small amount of oil for brushing (optional)
  • Additional mozzarella cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it is hot and ready for baking the pizza pockets evenly and to golden perfection.
  2. Prepare Dough: Open the refrigerated tube of pizza crust and unroll it flat onto a piece of parchment paper or a floured surface to prevent sticking.
  3. Cut Dough: Cut the flattened pizza crust into 6 equal-sized squares, which will serve as the base for each pizza pocket.
  4. Add Filling: Spoon about 1 tablespoon of pasta sauce onto half of each square. Add some mozzarella cheese and place 2 pepperoni slices on top of the sauce for each square.
  5. Form Pockets: Fold each square over diagonally to form a triangular pocket, enclosing the fillings. Seal the edges securely by pressing them with a fork to prevent leakage during baking.
  6. Optional Topping: Brush the tops of the pockets with a small amount of oil to encourage browning. Sprinkle dried oregano leaves and additional mozzarella cheese on top for extra flavor and a cheesy crust.
  7. Bake: Place the prepared pizza pockets on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven at 425°F for 10 to 13 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm, ideally with a small bowl of extra pasta sauce for dipping to enhance the experience.

Notes

  • You can customize the filling by adding veggies such as bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives.
  • For a spicier twist, add crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce or filling.
  • These pizza pockets can be made ahead and frozen; bake from frozen by adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
  • Brush with olive oil for a richer flavor instead of a neutral oil.
  • Ensure the edges are tightly sealed to prevent the filling from oozing out while baking.
