Orange Popsicles
- 2 cups fresh orange juice (about 6–8 oranges)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for added tartness)
- Juice the Oranges: Juice the oranges until you have 2 cups of fresh orange juice. Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve to remove any pulp or seeds if desired for a smooth texture.
- Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the fresh orange juice, granulated sugar, orange zest, and optional lemon juice. Stir thoroughly until the sugar is fully dissolved. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness if needed.
- Fill Molds: Pour the orange mixture into popsicle molds, leaving a little space at the top to allow for expansion as they freeze.
- Insert Sticks: If your popsicle molds require sticks, insert them following the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure they stay in place during freezing.
- Freeze: Place the molds in the freezer and let them freeze for at least 4 to 6 hours, or until the popsicles are completely solid.
- Unmold and Serve: To release the popsicles, briefly run warm water over the outside of the molds for a few seconds. Gently pull the popsicles out and enjoy immediately as a cool, delicious treat.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of sugar based on the sweetness of your oranges or your personal preference.
- Adding lemon juice is optional but provides a nice citrusy tartness that balances the sweetness.
- If you prefer a pulpier texture, skip straining the juice.
- Use silicone molds for easier popsicle removal.
- Store popsicles in an airtight container or wrap individually to prevent freezer burn.
