Dry Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp kosher salt
Wet Ingredients
- 12 oz beer (your favorite kind)
- 5 Tbsp honey
- 3 – 4 Tbsp melted butter (divided)
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly spray a 9×5-inch loaf pan with non-stick spray. Set the pan aside.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and kosher salt. Stir well to evenly distribute the ingredients.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Pour the beer and honey into the dry ingredients, stirring until the batter is smooth and there are no visible streaks of flour.
- Butter the Pan: Add half of the melted butter to the bottom of the prepared loaf pan. Tilt and rotate the pan to coat the bottom evenly with the butter.
- Transfer Batter: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it out evenly to ensure uniform baking.
- Top with Butter: Pour the remaining melted butter over the top of the batter. Use a brush or spoon to spread the butter evenly across the surface.
- Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. The bread is done when it is golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.
- Cool: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 5 to 7 minutes. Then carefully turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can use any kind of beer you prefer, though lighter beers will result in a milder flavor while darker beers will impart richer notes.
- For a crispier crust, brush the top with additional melted butter after baking.
- Make sure not to overmix the batter to keep the bread light and tender.
- This bread is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Try adding herbs or cheese for a savory variation.
