This Peanut Butter Cup Dump Cake Delight is an easy, decadent dessert combining rich chocolate cake with creamy peanut butter and melty peanut butter cups. It layers smooth peanut butter, chocolate cake batter, and toppings for a fudgy, melt-in-your-mouth experience perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Peanut Butter Layer

  • 1 cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter (room temperature)
  • Cooking spray or butter (for greasing)

Cake Batter

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (devil’s food recommended)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk (or any milk)

Toppings

  • 1 cup mini peanut butter cups
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (milk chocolate works too)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
  2. Spread Peanut Butter Layer: Let the peanut butter sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to soften. Spread it evenly across the bottom of the greased baking dish using a butter knife or offset spatula. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just cover the surface fully.
  3. Mix Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and milk. Whisk until mostly smooth with a few tiny lumps remaining, similar to pancake batter. Adjust consistency with additional milk if too thick or a tablespoon of flour if too thin.
  4. Assemble Cake: Pour the chocolate batter over the peanut butter layer in the baking dish, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle mini peanut butter cups and chocolate chips evenly over the top.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. The cake is done when edges pull away slightly from the pan and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs but no wet batter.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing. This helps the layers set and ensures clean slices. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Let peanut butter come to room temperature for easy spreading.
  • Use mini peanut butter cups for even melting and best texture.
  • Check oven temperature and start testing for doneness at 30 minutes to avoid overbaking.
  • Allow cooling time to let layers set, improving slice quality.
  • Whole milk gives the best richness, but other milk types can be substituted.
