Ingredients

Scale

Crescent Rolls

  • 1 can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls

Filling

  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and set it aside.
  2. Mix Filling Base: In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, melted unsalted butter, pure vanilla extract, and one large egg until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Reserve 2 tablespoons of this mixture for glazing the rolls later.
  3. Incorporate Pecans: Stir the chopped pecans into the remaining sugar mixture until they are evenly coated, ensuring the pecans are well distributed in the filling.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into individual triangles on your prepared baking sheet. Spoon about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the pecan filling onto the widest end of each triangle. Carefully roll each triangle starting from the wide end towards the narrow end, sealing the filling inside.
  5. Initial Bake: Place the assembled rolls in the preheated oven and bake for 8 minutes. This initial baking allows the dough to begin setting and partially cook the filling.
  6. Glaze and Finish Baking: Remove the rolls from the oven and brush each one with the reserved 2 tablespoons of the sugar mixture to add shine and extra sweetness. Return the rolls to the oven and continue baking for another 5 minutes or until they turn a light golden brown.
  7. Optional Garnish: Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven. For a decorative and tasty finish, sprinkle additional chopped pecans on top if desired. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure to use fresh pecans for the best flavor and crunch.
  • The reserved sugar mixture acts as a glaze to give the rolls a beautiful golden color and extra sweetness.
  • For a nuttier flavor, toast the pecans lightly before mixing them into the filling.
  • These rolls are best served warm but can be reheated gently in the oven.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
