Ingredients

Scale

Cake Batter

  • 15.25 oz. devil’s food cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Toppings and Add-ins

  • 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup caramel topping (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 8 oz Cool Whip, thawed
  • 3 Heath bars, chopped (about 4.2 ounces)
  • Chocolate sauce, for drizzling
  • Caramel sauce, for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cake batter: In a large bowl, blend together the devil’s food cake mix, eggs, water, and melted butter until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  2. Prepare the slow cooker: Spray the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Pour the cake batter into the slow cooker and smooth it into an even layer.
  3. Cook the cake: Cover the slow cooker and cook on the high setting for 2 hours. Avoid opening the lid during cooking to ensure the cake cooks evenly.
  4. Pour toppings over cake: Once the cake is cooked, use the end of a spoon to poke holes throughout the cake. Pour the sweetened condensed milk and ½ cup of caramel topping evenly over the surface. Remove the slow cooker insert and allow it to cool for a bit.
  5. Chill the cake: When the bottom of the insert is cool enough to touch, transfer the cake to the refrigerator. Chill for at least 2 hours or overnight to let the flavors meld and the cake set.
  6. Add final toppings: After chilling, spread the thawed Cool Whip evenly over the top of the cake. Sprinkle the chopped Heath bars over the Cool Whip. Finally, drizzle caramel sauce and chocolate sauce over the entire cake just before serving.

Notes

  • Use a 4-quart or larger slow cooker for best results.
  • Do not open the slow cooker lid during cooking as it may cause the cake to cook unevenly.
  • Allowing the cake to chill overnight enhances the flavors and makes slicing easier.
  • You can substitute Cool Whip with homemade whipped cream if preferred.
  • For additional texture, feel free to add chopped nuts or toasted coconut as a topping.
